In this post series, I want to show you an easy six-step guide to reach the big dream you have in mind, that life changing goal that doesn't let you sleep at night. If your goal is to find your dream job, to buy a home, to be healthier, to travel around the world, to start a business or just to be happy, I am pretty confident that every step is a key to successfully reach those goals.
Congratulations on having come so far! You started this blog series with a life changing goal in mind and see where you are now. This is the last step of the series How to reach your wildest dream in 6 steps. If you are here is because you already read how identify your WHY, your wrote a daily affirmations, you set up a deadline, you wrote a master plan and timeline and you shared your plan with a goal-mentor.
Of course you already also subscribed to our mailing list and joined our Facebook community, right? 😃
So you may be wondering “What is next?”. So let me tell you something. There is a black hole between Step 5 – Write your master plan and timeline and Step 6 – Track your progress and celebrate your victories.
Well, I don’t want to disappoint you but, after having your plan done there is only one thing you have to do:
Hopefully, you didn’t spend more than 2 or 3 days with the first steps (maybe 4 days if you waited for those awesome pens you bought in Amazon to draw your timeline). Now, is time for real action. It is time to start working on your plan. Remember when I told you to narrow your goal down and list all the task your need to do to reach your goal into manageable chunks? I asked you to do so because now that you have small and specific milestones in your timeline you just need to get out and do the first task. Is your wildest dream to go back to school? Go to Google and look for colleges that offer what you want. Are you looking for your dream job? Fix your resume and apply to one job. Want to be healthier? Go to the living room and do one push up.
Go to your timeline and just DO the first task. Yes, today, right now (well, not now, just right after reading this post). Then, go back to your timeline and mark the first step as completed, fill the freaking checkbox and be proud of you for reaching the first milestone for your success!
I recommend that you keep your plan and timeline in a visible place, like in front of your bed or in your handy bullet journal (I love to have mine in my Bujo. I also set daily alarms on my cellphone to remind myself to do specific tasks on the day I committed to doing it in my timeline. I also set alarms to read my daily affirmations. Yes, sometimes, I end up with 275,849 alarms a day. Anyhow, find what works best for you and don’t procrastinate yourself. Keeping track of your tasks is key to achieve your wildest dream. It allows you to see how you have been progressing toward your goal.
It’s time to celebrate!
The need to celebrate the little victories along the way. Let’s be honest, you know that you are going to encounter your fair share of obstacles and failures between today and your deadline. You can’t wait until you achieve your big goal to celebrate. What if it is a two-year plan? When kids are learning to walk we don’t wait for them to run to celebrate, right? we celebrate the first step, and the second, and the following and so. Take a couple of minutes to makes you feel happy for your success. Pamper yourself every time you do a task from your timeline. It will give you the motivation to keep going. It will build your confidence and when you are confident you are more likely to reach your goals. Celebrate that you are shining!
How should you celebrate?
Maybe doing something you like, such as going to the movies or drinking a glass of wine in the tub; donuts are okay, too. Here are more examples:
– Call your best friend to share what you did;
– Order pizza;
– Buy a new lipstick;
– Do your nails;
– Take a bubble bath;
Don’t go crazy tracking your plan every day. It is going to be OK once a week and, of course, it depends on the timeline you set. The most important thing is to have fun and celebrate every task you accomplish. No matter how small it is, SHINE, because every single step you move forward to reach your deepest dream is worth it.
When I made my plan to move to the U.S. with my family there was a very important and look-like-is-impossible milestone related with a legal document I needed for my daughter to travel. I remember when I got the approval for this document. October 17, 2015. I was on the street when I got the news and ran into the house to tell my husband “we got the approval”. We both jump together and cry with happiness. We call my mom and his mom, my sister and his sister to virtually celebrate via video chat. It was amazing!!! I think I can count that day as one of the happiest days of my life. It was a small victory of the dozens of steps on the way to reach the big fish.
